History buffs collect bricks at IBM Country Club, soon to disappear

People with fond memories of the glory days of the IBM Country Club come to Uniontown’s iconic location to witness a piece of Broome County’s history.
LeChase Construction and the agency delivered bricks for the iconic Crocker Manor on Watson Boulevard on Thursday.
Thousands of IBM employees and their families in Endicott, Glendale and Owego and other sites in the Binghamton area used the country club.
In recent years, once well-maintained buildings and grounds have fallen into disrepair as private owners have failed to restore the flood-damaged site.
Now, the iconic country club building is being demolished to make way for a $15 million residential complex from LeChase and Conifer Realty.
Broome County officials began a restoration project at the site last year, announcing $2 million in federal stimulus funding to pay for the demolition.
